CONSERVATION COMMISSION
J. P. BAUMGARTNER (Republican) is a native of Missouri, born at Columbia, in 
that State. He is self educated. Came to California in 1887 and has ever since 
been engaged in the newspaper business in southern California, as part 
proprietor of the Riverside Press, and sole owner of the Pasadena Star, Long 
Beach Press, and Santa Ana Register, the latter of which he now owns and edits. 
He was appointed a member of the Conservation Commission of the State of 
California by Governor Johnson in August, 1911.
