McCLURE was born in Ohio in December, 1856, and lived there until the fall of 1860, when he went to Pennsylvania, where he resided until the spring of 1879. He was in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Indian Territory, Texas, and New Mexico from 1879 to 1883, and then came to California, where he has since resided. The period of his life in Pennsylvania was spent in school, at work and in teaching in the public schools. One year in Missouri was spent in teaching. The following three years were spent in railroad surveys and construction. The time in California has been spent in railroad, marine, municipal and general engineering practice.
