GRANT TAYLOR (Republican), Clerk of Supreme Court, born December 27, 1872, at Collins, Erie County, New York. After common school and business college education, served as telegrapher on Erie Railroad. Later entered New York Civil Service as stenographer and telegrapher, and while so engaged commenced study of law by correspondence. Became a Californian in 1898, and admitted to bar in 1902. Was official shorthand reporter in Superior Court in Santa Clara County 1904 to 1910, inclusive. Received Republican nomination for present office through direct primary in August, 1910, followed by election in November. Home, Saratoga, Santa Clara County.
