He was a farmer in Mojave, San Bernardino, California -7 In the 1920 US census John is a farmer in Hesperia, San Bernardino, California. He is a janitor at the cement plant. According to Joe Manners, guardian of the cemetery, Clemente CHACON was shot to death by a fellow worker at the cement plant where he worked because he had on a money belt full of gold certificates. (I love these oral histories, whether true or not) -10 In the 1900 US census George and family are living in Victor, San Bernardino, California George W. 57 IA head Farmer Lucy 51 IA wife Ruby 18 CA daughter Ada 14 CA daughter Ida 14 CA daughter Jesse A. 11 CA son -11 In the 1930 US census the Lara family is living in Oro Grande and consists of; Castulo 57 Mex head Farm Laborer Altagracia 45 Mex wife Jacinto Bernal CA adopted son -12 In the 1930 US census Manuel is living in Oro Grande with his father, Juan, mother, Merejilda and five siblings. Juan is a farm laborer. -13 In the 1930 US census Theodore, wife, Jessie and brother Frank are living in Oro Grande where Theodore works in a gas station and frank is a farm laborer. -14 Husband of Georgia A Ward Note: There is a very nice man named Joe Manners who lives near the cemetery and apparently has taken it upon himself to be the guardian of the graveyard. The complete cemetery was totally desecrated about 15 years ago by some local boys. They broke every headstone and tore up all the crosses. A local group has done what they can to restore it. According to Joe, the only original records of the burials were maintained by a mortuary in Victorville, and it was destroyed by fire many years ago.
