Thursday, January 1
Quite pleasant today. I am still in Marysville, California and I have been here most 3 years. I am still in partners with McDonald. I spent part of the day walking about. Evening I went to prayer meeting.
Friday, January 2
Rained part of today. McDonald & I settled up our account. I think that I made about three thousand dollars last year. We met in the evening a few of us at the prayer meeting room and had a little sing.
Saturday, January 3
It rained quite hard last night and part of today. We are not doing much now. We have 4 or 5 men diging out our seller. I wrote a letter to Miss Sarah Slicer today. Evening I went to the sing.
Sunday, January 4
a little cloudy and unpleasant. At Church and Sunday School as usual. Bro. Warren is our S. S. Superentendant now. The day pased off very pleasantly.
Monday, January 5
The weather continues cloudy and rainy by spells. They finished diging out our sellers today. Went to the singing school in the evening the last evening in the corse.
Tuesday, January 6
Today has been quite pleasant. I got ready to lay brick in our 2 Houses tomorrow. In the evening I went to class meeting very good meeting 2 Ladies present.
Wednesday, January 7
Quite warm and pleasant today. We started to lay brick in our 2 Houses today near the corner of 7th St. on D. We are agoing to build one story above the Basement. First story 9 feet second story.
Thursday, January 8
The weather pleasant. We are at work on our 2 Houses. In the evening I went to prayer meeting. We had a full meeting this evening.

Today has been very pleasant but looks a little like rain. We finished up our Basement today & the Back steps. In the evening I went to the sing.
Sunday, January 11
It rained a little in the morning. My partner McDonald was married this morning by Mr. Wallsworth. We had a temperance lecture to the children today.
Monday, January 12
The weather pleasant. I commenced on the second story of our Houses today. Went to the sing in the evening.
Tuesday, January 13
It looks a little like rain today. Worked all day. In the evening I went to a Temperance meeting and joined the pleage. I started the front with press brick today.
Wednesday, January 14
We worked all day. In the evening Rafe & I got ready and called on Mrs. McDonald at Mrs Leard’s(?). We spent quite a pleasant evening. I like her appearance very much.
Thursday, January 15
Cloudy and wet and rained more all last night. We did not work today. Rafe & his Bro. & I went a gunning in the afternoon. In the evening Mack & I went surity for Mr. Lee for his appearance at court.
Friday, January 16
The weather continues quite wet and mudy. We went agunning agan this afternoon I shot one Duck but did not get it it fell in Fether river. In evening I went to Teacher’s meeting.
Saturday, January 17
It rained all last night and a little today. We did not work. The snow is very deep in the mountains from 4 to 100 feet deep but it is pleasant here in the valley. The grass is geting quite green. Evening I went to the sing.
Sunday, January 18
It rained a little in the morning. At Church & S. School as usual. We had a choir today in church, Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton, Williams & Haskill.
Monday, January 19
Today has been quite pleasant. We worked all day on our Houses on D. St. in the evening I went to the sing with Miss Swain. We had a very good school.
Tuesday, January 20
Very pleasant day. Stombs & Bro. has taken the Dorson House and I am still Boarding there. We pay $8.00 per week now. Evening went to class meeting.
Wednesday, January 21
Weather pleasant. We are still at work on our Houses. In the evening I went to the sing in the company of Miss Swayne.
Thursday, January 22
The weather still continues pleasant. Worked all day. In the evening I went to prayer meeting. We had a very full meeting this evening.
Friday, January 23
Very foggy this morning but the latter part of the day was very pleasant. Worked all day. In the evening I went to prayer meeting, good meeting.
Saturday, January 24
Quite foggy this morning but turned out to be a very fine day. We worked all day on our 2 Houses. Went to Preaching in the evening.
Sunday, January 25
Very pleasant day. At S. S. & Church as usual. We had a very good preaching today quartley meeting & sacrament sabbath. 3 or 4 came up in the evening to be prayed for.
Monday, January 26
The weather a little cloudy. We toped out our 2 Houses today at noon. Warren & Hill is puting on the roofs. We had a bone(?) feast at the Church this evening. I feel very much in the background.
Tuesday, January 27
Very pleasant today. I commenced to clean down our fronts and plaster the caps. I sold a Lot of our on C. St. for $100 the [--] is all worked out it was sold for taxes I redeamed it.
Wednesday, January 28
The weather very pleasant. We started a small House on Maiden Lane for Mr. Coial In the evening I went to a lecture in company with Miss Swain.
Thursday, January 29
Today has been very pleasant. I rode out to the grave yard with Mr. Hamilton to see some work he wants me to do. The Prarie is geting quite green and the cattle are feeding on the grass. In the evening I went to meeting.
Friday, January 30
Very peasant day. Working out at the grave yard all day. Arching over a grave for Mrs. Price. In the evening I went to the sing with Miss Swain.
Saturday, January 31
The weather continues quite pleasant. I arched over Mr. Singer’s grave today in the Catholict Burrying Ground. The Plasterer finished Plastering our Doorway and caps today & the roof is finished.
PS. I got word that our oxen died out at the ranch.

The weather pleasant. At Church & S. School as usual. We had a very good school today. In the afternoon I wrote a letter to Brother Jacob
Monday, February 2
The weather continues very pleasant. I was drawn as a Grand Juror and I had to appear at the court house today at 10 o’clock. I commenced to pave my Basement today. In the evening I went to the sing.
Tuesday, February 3
The weather continues very pleasant. The Jurors sat today from 10 to 1 o’clock. We dwelled most of the time today on Webster and his 2 colleges now in Jail for Horse stealing and attempt Highway Robbery. Evening I went to class.
Wednesday, February 4
The weather cool and a little windy. Juror met at 10 o’clock 3 or 4 cases came up before them. In the afternoon we examined Feather River Bridge and visited the Jail. Tom Britt is in there. I worked part of the day.
Thursday, February 5
We sat on the Juror from 10 to about 3 o’clock then we visited the Hospitle found it in very good order. We also examined Websster & Shelly’s Trunks found some counterfit money & a good many very suspisious things.
Friday, February 6
The weather quite cool.I am still on the Juror. Mr. Hudgson appeared before us today and made some disclosures about a gang of Highwaymen now in Jail. but unsucessfull on geting a good line on them. Evening went to sing.
Saturday, February 7
The weather keeps cool but not unpleasant. I am still on Juror. We did not make any report to the Court today. We discussed several cases today. in the evening I went to the Teacher’s meeting.
Sunday, February 8
Very pleasant day. At Sunday School and Church as usual. We, Warren, Miss Wingham Miss Susan Lamee & I took a very pleasant walk out to the grave yard this evening.
Monday, February 9
The weather continues very pleasant. I am still on the Grand Juror. We visited the Publick Schools today. We had not very much business before us today. in the evening I went to the sing in company with Miss Swain.
Tuesday, February 10
A little cloudy and rained a little in the evening. On the Juror all day from 10 to about 4 o’clock. I worked the balance of the time on the fence & ary in the front of my House. I am not very well the last 2 days.
Wednesday, February 11
It rained a little part of today. We are still seting on the grand Juror. Nothing of any very great interest came up before us today. The Court was all day trying to get Juror in the Webster case.
Thursday, February 12
We have had quite a wet day. The court tryed Webster today and found him guilty of Highway Robbery. We sat for a few hours today and ajourned till tomorrow. We cleaned up the Church today and varnished it all over. We worked till late in the evening.
Friday, February 13
We made our final report this afternoon before the Court. It rained most all day. In the evening I went to the Church and helped put down the new carpet. We got $4 per day ( 11 days ) paid in County script.
Saturday, February 14
It rained on and off all day. We had a good deal of trouble collecting some money times are very tight. I helped in the evening to finish the carpeting.
Sunday, February 15
It rained on and off all day. At Sunday School and Church all day. our church looks much better now that we have got a new carpet and cleaned up.
Monday, February 16
It rained quite hard last night & part of today. The river is about 7 feet of being as high as it was in 1854. I commenced to ranch yesterday with Joe in the old shanty.
Tuesday, February 17
Very pleasant day. I finished repairing my privey today. It rained up a foot or so. In the evening I went to Jermin preaching with Miss Lamie.
Wednesday, February 18
Very pleasant day. Mack and I rode over to Yuba City to see Mr. Hanson about building him a House over there. He gave us the job at $17 per thousand. Evening I went to a Debateing Society and they elected me there President.
Thursday, February 19
It rained part of today. I got ready to build Mathews back building. and done some work about my House. My well was commenced at $1.25 per foot. In the evening I went to prayer meeting. Very good meeting.
Friday, February 20
Quite warm part of today. We commenced Mathew’s back building. In the evening I went to Teacher’s meeting in the company of Miss Pratt & Miss Wingham.
Saturday, February 21
The weather very pleasant today. I caised(?) my Basement fire place today. I had quite a hard time to collect some money today. Our debateing society met tonight president in the chair.
Sunday, February 22
Very pleasant day. At Church & S. School all day. Mr. Wallsworth preached for us in the morning. Bro. Warren and I walked out to the grave yard in the afternoon.
Monday, February 23
Very pleasant weather. Worked all day. In the evening Bro. Warren and I called on Miss Wingham. I started a blacksmith’s shop for Coial.
Tuesday, February 24
It rained quite hard this afternoon. We finished Mr. Coial’s job. In the evening I went to a lecture before the Library Assiociation Subject Palestine or Mt. Sinai. The Rev. Mr. Schoot of San Francisco.
Wednesday, February 25
It rained quite hard last night and most all day. I done a little work about my House. The carpenter hung the sash and the inside doors. Joe and I are still ranching in the little shanty.
Thursday, February 26
The weather continues very wet and mudy but our sidewalks are much improved this winter most of them are paved which is a great improvement to the City. Went to prayer meeting in the evening.
Friday, February 27
The weather keeps very wet. I went over to Yuba City to start that job for Mr. Hanson but it commenced to rain and we turned and came back. Stayed at home this evening.
Saturday, February 28
I altered my pan afront my partition between my parlor & back rooms I am puting a slideing doors. I helped to make the change today. In the evening I went to the debate.
Sunday, March 1
Mr. Bruner being away there was no preaching in the Methodist Church but S. S. as usual. I went to the Catholis Church in the morning. Bro. Warren & I took a walk in the evening.
Monday, March 2
Weather very pleasant. We started Mr. Hanson’s House in Yuba City today. We do the work for $17 per thousand. We have to pay $1.50 to have the bricks halled over. We only keep one team to work now while we are not very busy.
Tuesday, March 3
Very pleasant day. Worked all day in Yuba City. I had to come over to Town a few minutes to be a witness for Capt. Baley about some wood. The trial did not come off. I stayed to home all evening.
Wednesday, March 4
The weather continues pleasant. We are still at work in Yuba City. We take our dinners at Mr. Gregor’s Mack’s Father-in-Law. In the evening I went to the Fireman’s meeting.
Thursday, March 5
The weather continues very pleasant. We are geting along very well with our House in Yuba City. I got acquainted with Miss Murphy today at Mr. Gregors. In the evening I went to prayer meeting.
Friday, March 6
Weather continues pleasant. We topped out today our House in Yuba City it has about 40 thousand Bricks in it. In the evening I went to the Teacher’s meeting. We elected Mr. Baker superentendent.
Saturday, March 7
Very pleasant day. Done nothing in the forenoon. In the afternoon I went over to Yuba city and collected some money & saw a horse race and race after a hare about 2000 people present. In the evening went to the Liciom and was appointed one of the judges.
Sunday, March 8
A little cloudy and rained a little. At school and at Church in the morning in the evening it rained and I did not go to Church. Mr. Baker is now our superentendent and the best one that we have had since I have been here.
Monday, March 9
The weather very pleasant but rained a little in the morning. I did not do much today. I read a few Hours in the afternoon I made a fire in my Basement to dry the plastering.
Tuesday, March 10
Very pleasant day. I paved my alley & part of the yard. I am geting along very well with my House I will have it done in a week or so.
Wednesday, March 11
The weather very pleasant, I paved in front of my House and fixed up the little garden in front. The cqarpenters commenced the fence in front. In the evening I went to the [--] meeting.
Thursday, March 12
Very pleasant day. I was at work all day about my House I put up a partition in one corner of my back room for a bath room. Done the work myself.
Friday, March 13
The weather continues very pleasant. Jobing about my House all day. In the evening went to a spiritual meeting, do [--] believe in it.
Saturday, March 14
The weather still continues very pleasant. I am still jobing about my House. We cant do much now we are now almost out of rough brick. Bricks are very scarce & high. Good rough bricks are worth $10 & $11 dollars.

Very pleasant weather. At S. S. & Church as usual. I was up most all night seting a Rainge at the Murchents Hotell. I was realected last evening President of the Filomethean Society
Monday, March 16
The weather continues very pleasant. Today is the ellection day for Mayor and city officers. I voted the people’s ticket but with 2 esceptions. I was jobing about my House all day.
Tuesday, March 17
Very pleasant day. In the morning I went over to Yuba City and finished up the jobing about the House we built there for Mr. Hanson. I had the pleasure of taking dinner with Miss Murphy by invitation.
Wednesday, March 18
The weather continues very pleasant. I done some jobing about my House today.
N. B. I was initiated last night in Corinthian Lodge of the Masonick Order. I was very much pleased with them.
Thursday, March 19
The weather continues very pleasant. We commenced to take out the first story of J. C. Fall’s store today. We are going to remoddle it have Press Brick & iron frames and co.
Friday, March 20
The weather pleasant. Worked all day at Mr. Fall’s store on First St. In the evening I went to the S. School Teacher’s Association. We has a very good meeting.
Saturday, March 21
Rained a little in the morning. Worked all day at Mr. J. C. Fall’s store. In the evening went to masons & then I went to debateing society. I am now president agan. Subject spiritualism.
Sunday, March 22
Pleasant but a little cool. At S. School & at church as usual. Today was our communion Sabbith and love fiest. I felt very unworthy today but I hope that I may get along better.
Monday, March 23
Very pleasant day. Worked all day at Mr. J. C. Fall’s store. Mack, my partner, moved in his House today. In the evening I went to the debateing society but not enough there to commence.
Tuesday, March 24
Worked all day. The wind blew quite hard this evening. I took supper with Mack in his new House. He is fixed up very nice.

The weather continues very pleasant. Worked all day. times are very dull & have been all winter but I think they will be better soon. We keep doing something all the time.
Thursday, March 26
Very pleasant weather today. We are geting along very well with our front no axident has happened as yet. The building is 3 storys high we took first story out. Evening I went to prayer meeting.
Friday, March 27
It rained most all day today. I worked a little in the morning. In the afternoon I cleaned up my Basement for grouting. In the evening I went to the singing class with Miss Lamie.
Saturday, March 28
Most of the day was very pleasant but it rained in the evening. We worked all day at Mr. J. C. Fall’s. Josiah & I quit ranching this evening. We are going to the Cowbell ranch to board.
Sunday, March 29
Very pleasant day. At S. School & Church as usual. In the afternoon Miss Lamie & I had a very pleasant walk out in the prarie a piece and got some very pretty wild flowers & had a very pleasant time.
Monday, March 30
Very pleasant weather. Mack & I worked all day on J. C. Fall’s store on First St. We had no debate this evening there not being enough present to begin. We adjorned to meet Saturday evening.
Tuesday, March 31
It rained quite hard part of today. I plastered my Basement floor with sement today. I have my House most finished. In the evening I went to a lecture on Spiritualism at the Court House.
Wednesday, April 1
I plastered the front walk of my Basement with cement and mortar a little over 2/3 mortar. In the evening I went to the fire company. I am stoping at the Cow Bell Ranch now.
Thursday, April 2
Very pleasant day but a little warm in the morning. In the afternoon Mr. Williams came after me to help to finish seting ther Boiller at the Mill. Evening went to prayer meeting.
Friday, April 3
The weather continues the same. Worked all day at the mill got done in the evening. Went to the Teacher’s meeting and sing in the evening with Miss Lamie.
Saturday, April 4
Quite windy & dusty today. I worked all day about my House hung the Bell today &co. I saw Mr. Hustain about renting it but we did not come to any agreament about it. In evening went to debate society I was realected president.

Quite warm today about the warmest day we have had this spring. At church & S. School as usual. In the evening Bro. Warren & I took a little walk.
Monday, April 6
Not quite so warm today. We commenced to get our yard ready today to make brick & got up the 2 Houses they are looking very well.
Tuesday, April 7
Quite warm today. I took quite a long ride today on the other side of the Feather river after a Horse that went astray last fall did not find him rode about 30 or 40 miles. Felt very tired when I got home.
Wednesday, April 8
The weather continues quite warm. I helped to fix about the yard today. Bought a new stove &co. In the evening I went to the meeting of the teacher’s of the several Sabbith schools to take in considderation to have a picknic excursion about the first of May.
Thursday, April 9
The weather continues about the same. I helped about the yard. We are only running one gang this spring making 9000 per day. Evening went to meeting.
Friday, April 10
Very warm today. I sat brick most all day the first kiln. We are not doing very much now on account of not having very many brick on hand.
Saturday, April 11
The weather continues about the same. Sat brick part of the day and attended to a little business in town. We had no debate this evening.
Sunday, April 12
Quite warm today. At Sunday School and Church as usual. In the afternoon I had a very pleasant walk a piece in the country with Miss Lamie.

The weather continues quite warm. I sat brick most all day. I spent the evening with Bro. Warren in my room.
Tuesday, April 14
Quite windy and dusty today and looks very much like rain. I sat Brick all day. I received a letter from Bro. Jacob today.
Wednesday, April 15
Quite warm today. In the afternoon I went to Oroville to set a Rainge for Mrs Faigan in the Empire Hotel. Went up in the stage distance about 30 or 40 miles through a very pretty farming country about 4 hours ride.
Thursday, April 16
In Oroville very pretty little town of about 6 thousand inhabitance and just in the midest of a vast mineing country. Saw a good many old acquaintance. Joal Burlingame was there. It’s a very flurishing little Town there is about 2000000 brick layed in the Court House.
Friday, April 17
I finished my rainge today. have a very strong notion to come & stop here & carry on my business here with Joal a good deal my old friend & Bro. Most of the buildings are frame and papered in sicle.
Saturday, April 18
Started back for old Marysville went down on the steamer [--] some very pretty Ranches on the river banks about 2 hours coming down. Found all well. Evening went to the debateing society.
Sunday, April 19
Very pleasant day. At S. School & Church all day. In the afternoon Miss Susan Lamie and I had a very pleasant walk after some flowers.
Monday, April 20
The weather very pleasant. I wrode all day after 2 of our oxen on the other side of the Feather river and did not find them. Evening I went to a lecture with Miss Lamie and Mrs Sanders
Tuesday, April 21
The weather continues pleasant. Wrode all day today after the cattle and did not find them. I am agoing to start agan in the morning.
Wednesday, April 22
I started quite early this morning to go to Willow Ponds about 18 miles after the oxen and found them. I got home with them about 9 o’clock in the evening. Very pleasant day.
Thursday, April 23
The weather continues very pleasant. I went up to Oroville agan this afternoon to seet the rainge. Think there is a very good chance to get in business here. Stoping at the Empire Hotell.
Friday, April 24
The weather very plesasnt. In Oroville trying to make araingements with Mr McConnell to burn and make my brick at $7.50 per th. At the yard. Wants $8.00. He has engaged about 400,000 the contract is in Mr. Hussey’s ( bricklayer) hands he is willing to give it to me.
Saturday, April 25
He is to have for them $7.75 per thousand on the yard. Saw him this morning an definite conclusion. At 6 o’clock started for home. Arrived at 11 p. m.
Sunday, April 26
Very pleasant today At S. School & Church as usual. In the afternoon Miss Lamie and I took a walk out in the fields had a very pleasant walk.
Monday, April 27
The weather very pleasant. We have about give up the idee of going up to Oroville to start an interest in the brick business. We are geting along very well with one gang making brick.
Tuesday, April 28
A little cool & windy today. I made a bargan with the Bucher to furnish us with Beef for 15 cents and Pork for 16 cents per lb. I felt a little unwell today.
Wednesday, April 29
Quite warm today. We worked all day on the painter’s House. We are doing the work our selves. Our apreantice is geting to be a very good worker on rough work.
Thursday, April 30
Very pleasant today. I went out with the 3 Sunday Schools we went up the feather river about 10 miles about 120 children along. We had a very pleasant time of it plenty to eat and plenty of fun.
Friday, May 1
The weather continues very pleasant but a little warm. We sat fire to our first brick kiln today about 170000 in it. Worked all day.
Saturday, May 2
Very pleasant weather. I bought 52 ½ cords of wood today at $5.50 per cord. I got the jugement of that House straiten up and got a mortgage on the House for the balance. We tried our new Engine.
Sunday, May 3
Very pleasant day. At S. School & Church as usual. With Mr. Warren part of the afternoon and with Miss Lamie to church in the evening. Not quite 4 ½ days burning.
Monday, May 4
The weather quite warm part of the day. I stayed at the brick kiln in the afternoon and helped to burn. We have had very good weather so far for brick makeing.
Tuesday, May 5
The weather continues about the same. I went to the Court House today as a witness for the price of wood last summer for Capt. Bayley. At the kiln most of the day.
Wednesday, May 6
Very windy and dusty last night & today. I was up at the kiln last night & most all day. We finished burning about 5 o’clock this afternoon.
Thursday, May 7
It commenced to rain last night about midnight & rained untill this morning but did not do very much harm to the brick. In the evening I went to prayer meeting.
Friday, May 8
The weather quite cool after the shower. Worked all day on Brownlee’s building on D. St. next to O. H. Pearson’s stables. Had a very pleasant walk in the evening with Miss S. A. L.
Saturday, May 9
Today has been quite pleasant. Worked all day Mack was sick. Bill Smith is with me tonight.
Sunday, May 10
Cloudy & rained a little. At S. School and church as usual. The Rev. Mr. Briggs preached for us today. It was a fine treat for us all.
Monday, May 11
Very pleasant today. McDonald and I had a little trouble about some business affairs. He wanted a deed for the Lot I sold him. I would not give it him untill a settlement between us.
Monday, May 12
The weather very pleasant. Mac & I are geting ready to settle up to see how we stand. I have been very much afraid that I did not make very much last year.
Wednesday, May 13
Joal Burlingame is with me for a day or so. Mack & I was setling up most of the day. I gave him a deed for Lot on D St. near 7th. We sat Mr. Brownlee’s col. on D. St. setled up with Mr. J. Mathews.
Thursday, May 14
I took a recipt today from McDonald for $1771.88 one half of which was mine for payment of which I gave my portion of the Lot next to Lawyer McCartey’s on D. St. & $150.00 the Lot is valued at $1000.00. I am very much pleased with the bargan.
Friday, May 15
Quite warm today. I took the job of repairing the cistern by the M. E. Church @ $22.00. I am about making a traid with my chript for Mr. Kimball House on B St & F. He val. it at $1600 cash.
Saturday, May 16
Quite warm part of today. I had $9.00 per day & board offered me yesterday by Pain if I would take charge of his work. I am now on a stand what to do. I have had a good deal of talk today about tradeing my skrip for Kimball’s Lot & House.
Sunday, May 17
Very pleasant weather. At Church & S. School as usual. In the evening Miss Susan A. Lamie and I took a very pleasant walk out by the Feather river and in the evening we went to church.
Monday, May 18
Mr. Kimball & I traided today. I am to give my schript which is now with the interest about $1900.00. We trade even for a House & Lot on 5th St. next to the corner of F. St. It is now renting for $40.00 per month. Taxes 440.00 anuly.
Tuesday, May 19
The weather pleasant. I worked part of the day. I have been trying to get that skrip out of Mr.Guskey’s hands. He has it for sicurity for a thousand dollars we borred last winter.
Wednesday, May 20
A little windy but pleasant. Times are very hard in Marysville. I have not rented my House on D. St. as yet. It has been standing about 3 months idle. I settled up with Mr. Fall today $1090.00 comeing to us. He gave 2 notes for $5.00 each for 35 days.
Thursday, May 21
I got my skrip today and paid it over and got my deed for the Lot & House. Received a letter from Joal today he wants me to come up to Oroville.
Friday, May 22
A little warm today. We sat the caps for Mr. Brownlee today. We had quite a large fire this evening on the cornor of Front & A. St. burnt about 20 Houses.
Saturday, May 23
The weather pleasant. I received another letter from Joal today. Mr. Hussey still wants me to come up and go in partners with him. He has the theatre and 4 stores to build.
Sunday, May 24
Mr. Williams & I went to Beair river at Mr. Crabtree’s Ranch to see Mr. Whealler the Baptist Minister. We hered him preach there & we brought him up and he preached in the City hall.

The weather continues warm. We worked today at Mr. Brownlee’s Building. In the evening I called on Miss Lamie we took a walk to the Ice cream Saloon and we saw Mr. Whealler there.

The weather continues about the same. Worked all day. I was up all last night at the Western House fixing a rainge. Mr. Shirmen spoke to me about takeing my House.

A little more pleasant today. We topped out Mr. Brownlee’s Building today. I figured on a couple of small Houses this evening for two duch girls. Stayed to home this evening.

Weather quite pleasant. We started Mr. Owen’s & his 2 partners Houses on Virgin Alley. In the evening I went to a Bricklayers meeting in refference to lime.

Quite warm but a good breeze. I let my house on D. St. today to Mr. Shirmen at $50.00 per month. In the evening I went to a Baptist prayer meeting at Bro. Miller’s on 6th St. 8 present.

Weather continues pleasant. We worked part of the day. We stoped to try and collect some money. We find money very hard to collect. We raised about $25 and we wanted about $700.

Very pleasant day. At church & S. School as usual. The Rev. Mr. Briggs preached at 11 o’clock for us and the Rev. Mr. Bruner at night. I spent the evening at Mrs. Sanders.

The weather continues pleasant. We worked all day at Mr. Owens and his partners Hury’s 2 Houses on Virgin Alley. Mr. Shirmen commenced to move in my House on D. St. Wrote to Bro. Jacob this evening.

The weather pleasant. Mack & Rafe was taken with the colmorbis(?) very bad. Col. Watkins agread to keep my House on D. St. at $40.00 per month. I am having some improvements made.

I made a mistake in laying of a wall in Owens House & it had to be taken down and rebuilt. Mr. Shirmen’s family moved in this evening. Mack is geting better. I am a going to Board with the Family that is in my House at $10.00 per week. Furnish my own room I get $50.00 for the House per month.

The weather pleasant. I finished at Mr. Fall’s. I gave in my property today. The assessment is about $4.00 on the Hundred. I gave in my House on D. St.$20.00.

The weather continues pleasant. I worked all day at Owings Houses on Virgin Al. Evening went to the Baptist prayer meeting at Bro. Barnes only 3 present.

The weather continues quite pleasant. I had quite a time to collect money today, money is very hard to collect. I planted out Mrs. Shirmen’s roses in the yard in front of my House.

We topped out Owens 2 Houses on Virgin Alley. I received part of a months rent for my House on Fifth St. Col. Watkins is living in it. I am geting $40.00 per month.

Not quite so warm today. The fireman’s still with us. I wrote for Bro. James to come out. Wrote to Bro. Jacob and gave him the power of attirney to collect my money in the Building Association.

The weather continues more pleasant. The time continue very dull. We are not doing anything. I figured on the brick work on a bridge to cross the Yuba.

Very pleasant day. I was attending to business all day. I sat fire to the kiln with 22 holes or 440,000 bricks. Most of the people in Marysville went out to the Park today. We had some very pretty fire works in the Town at night.

The weather very warm. We finished the foundations at the Bridge on the other side of the Yuba. Times are still dull we are selling brick at $8 to 10 per thousand.

The weather still warm. I commenced a job for Mr. Low & Bro. Bankers. James O’Hara bricklayer died last night. We burred him this evening all the bricklayers present.

The weather continues very hot. I finished Mr. Low’s job on First St. Rafe & I got some loggs out of the Yuba River at the Bridge. We want them to make a fence around a Lot on 2 St.
