Irish Died Saturday Georgetown Resident Many Years Was Native Of Rose Springs, Near Rescue Charles Freeman Irish, 86, a native of the Rose Springs district, near Rescue, and for virtually all his adult life a resident near Georgetown, passed away Saturday while being brought to Placerville by friends for treatment by a physician. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Georgtown under the auspices of Georgetown Parlor No. 91, N.S.G.W. The Rev. J. R. Rudkin officiated and the eulogy was ably given by Henry S. Lyon, a past grand president of the order. Interment was at the family plot in Georgetown cemetery. Mr. Irish was a widely known and highly esteemed resident of the Dry Creek district, near Georgetown, and was a field deputy county assessor in his home district for many years. He had been a member of Memento Lodge of Odd Fellows for sixty-three years, was a fifty-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member for nearly fifty-four years in Georgetown Parlor of Native Sons, participating actively in the work of all organizations. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Irish, who moved from Rose Springs to Dry Creek when their family was young, and the deceased had made his home there continuously, engaging in ranching during his active life. When he became suddenly ill at his home on Friday of last week a physician was called and following treatment Mr. Irish appeared to be feeling better. That evening, while attending to a household chore, Mrs. Irish fell in the door-yard and despite his illness, Mr. Irish was able to go to her side and assist her into the house. Saturday morning Mr. Irish’s condition again became serious and friends and relatives started for Placerville with the couple, one car bringing Mrs. Irish for the treatment of cuts and bruises suffered in the fall, and another bringing Mr. Irish to the hospital. Mr. Irish passed away enroute to Placerville. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Irish, of Georgetown, and three sons, Henry, of Georgetown; Earl, of San Jose; and Rolon T. Irish, of Placerville. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Irish, of Georgetown; a sister, Mrs. Emma Stanley, of San Mateo; and four grandchildren, Charles Irish, who is in Army training in Iowa; Helen Irish, of Placerville; and Audrey and Robert Irish, of Georgetown, in addition to more distant relatives.
