Source Unknown; 16 Aug 1945 MOJAVE MAN MAKES RECORD With regard to service in the armed forces during the recent war the Frank Apalatea family of Mojave, seem to have established something of record, unmatched in almost any other section of Kern county. Frank's son, Ralph Apalatea, was killed in action in Italy in July, 1944, and two other sons, Lawrence and Frank, besides a brother, Henry are still in the service. In addition to these, Mr. Apalatea has eight nephews in the service, they are Billy Burlando, Fred Butterbredt jr, Grant lszuierdo, Ben Apalatea, jr., Johnnie Price, Dick Price, Delmer Price, and Art Malone. Staff Sgt. Frank, Apalatea, jr. joined the armed forces October 17, 1939 and has fought in the Central Pacific area, Guadalcanal and the North Solomons.
