Source Unknown; Date Unknown MOJAVE — Graveside services will be held Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at Mojave Cemetery for Charles E. "Charlie" Babcock, a long-time barber in Mojave and other California communities, who passed away July 16. When he retired, Charlie Babcock was Kern County's oldest working barber, having cut hair for the previous 60 years. Born in Glendive, Montana, January 9, 1914, Charlie and his wife Signa, whom he met and married in Montana, moved to California, where he attended barber college in Fresno, hitchhiking to school every day. During his career, Charlie barbered in Pismo Beach, Ojai, Las Vegas, Tehachapi, and Mojave. He had many friends and was active in service clubs and other community activities. The family offers an open invitation to everyone who would like to attend the graveside service. Charlie leaves behind his wife Signa of Mojave, son Chris, daughter-in-law Vicki, granddaughter Codi, two half-brothers, one half-sister, and several nieces and nephews. Stickel Mortuary is handling arrangements. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
