Source Unknown; Date Unknown July 23,1930 – March 7, 2005 Barbara Louise Ball passed away in Tehachapi on March 7 after a two-year battle with cancer. Barbara was born on July 23, 1930 in Hollywood, the daughter of John Markoe Ferris and Ruth Flack. Barbara grew up in Highland Park, a Los Angeles suburb, with her older brother Allen Markoe and younger sister Carol Anne. It was during these years, prior to and during World War II, that Barbara's love of horses blossomed. If she was not in school, she could be found at the stables down in the Arroyo Seco cleaning stalls, tending to the horses or riding. Barbara graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1948, married shortly thereafter and began a family of her own. Barbara traded in her stable to manage one of a different sort — raising her four children with her second husband Robert W. "Bob" Ball in Burbank. She spent many memorable summers with the family camping and water-skiing at Bass Lake and Lake Havasu, or enjoying the beach at Carpenteria. She was the number one cheerleader for her children and seldom missed their school and sporting activities.Barbara and Bob moved to Bear Valley Springs in the winter of 1993 to begin their third life. She was an active member of the horseman's association in Bear Valley Springs and the Tehachapi area horseshow program, and she volunteered many hours opening and closing gates at the horse show. She was often seen riding the trails in Bear Valley Springs on her beloved quarter horse, Shey's Montana Gold or enjoying the amenities at the Oak Tree Country Club. Barbara loved life to its fullest and displayed an unparalleled wit in both good and bad times. A sense of humor maintained throughout her life, including the trials of months of chemotherapy. She passed at home with her family at her side and a smile on her face. Barbara is survived by her sister, Carol Arme Ferris; son, Lance Gregory Clenard and wife Cindy and children Jeffrey Lorenz, Bryan Scott and Anna Marie McElroy, son, Jeffry Layne Clenard and wife Colleen and children Laura Greenhalgh and Caitlin Dallas, Christopher Paul Clenard and wife Kerrin and children Justin Paul and Kevin Paul; daughter, Carol Susan Johnson and husband Randy and children Jeremy Michael, Jennifer Erin Kays, and Alysia Nicole. In addition to family, Barbara leaves many dear friends in Bear Valley. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
