Source Unknown; Date Unknown The rosary was recited Monday evening, October 12 and Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday morning, October 13 at St. Malachy Catholic Church for Margo Cecelia Bankard, 82, who passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Octaher 8. Mrs. Bankard was born to her parents, Joseph and Irene Baby in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1916. Her professional career as an executive secretary spanned a period of many years, with the last 14 years before retirement being with U.S. Aid Government Agency in various countries. Over the years Mrs. Bankard enjoyed playing bridge, most particularly during her years in Bear Valley Springs. She was a charter member of the Women's Club at BVS, a member for more than 35 years of the National Shrine of St. Jude, and a member of Claretian Missionaries of Chicago. Mrs. Bankard traveled extensively overseas, visiting many areas of the globe with the exception of Latin America. She was a very dedicated, devout member of St. Malachy Catholic Church and will certainly be missed in her parish. Mrs. Bankard is survived by her son, Robert G. Bankard of Pasadena; grandchildren: Robert J. Bankard of Agoura; Jeffrey Bankard, serving in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany; Joseph Bankard of Tehachapi; presently working on his Masters Degree in San Diego; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Danielle Bankard of Woodland Hills. Mrs. Bankard was preceded in death by a grandson, William Bankard in 1994. Father Godfrey Raffel officiated at the rosary and Monsignor Joseph Barnes officiated at the Mass. Interment followed at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
