A head-on collision six miles west of Mojave last Saturday night brought death to Paul E. Batesel, 71 L Street, Mojave and Sgt. Clovis M. Davis, 3077th Exp. Group, EAFB and injuries to Sgt. and Mrs. Wayne Lindeman, 72 L Street, Mojave. Taken to the Mojave Hospital by O'Donnell's ambulance, Batesel was pronounced dead on arrival. Sgt. Davis was removed to the Edwards Dispensary where he passed away at 3 a. m. Mrs. Lindeman was very critically injured, and after receiving treatment here and at the Edwards hospital, she was flown to the Naval Hospital at Oceanside for more specialized care. Military funeral services for Paul Edward Batesel, 25, were held at the O'Donnell Chapel and' Mojave cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. under the auspices of the American Legion Post 358 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3711. A firing squad: from Edwards Air Force Base participated in the graveside ceremonies. Paul Batesel was born in Hot Springs, Ark., and is survived by his wife, Claudine, daughter, Sherry Ann, 4, and infant son, Paul Edward, Jr., born October 9, and also by his mother, Mrs. Ella Batesel, of EI Centro, two brothers and two sisters. He was employed as a dispatcher at Edwards Air Force Base. . Rev. James Barber of the First Baptist Church officiated and Frances Bowlin was vocalist and musician.
