Services will be held at Mumaw Funeral Home in Lancaster, California on Friday, October 24, 2003, at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Joshua Memorial Park. Harold was born in Paris, Arkansas November 5, 1929. Harold's family moved to Oxnard, California when he was 13. He went to high school in Oxnard and joined the Army after graduation. He is a Korean War veteran. His dad worked at Pacific Coast Borax in Boron so when Harold returned home from the service, he started to work there also. He worked there for 44 years. He was known as Lil General at U.S. Borax and retired in 1993. He was #1 Mule at Borax when he retired. He then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he and his wife resided for 9 years. In 2001, they decided to move back to Bakersfield to be closer to the family. Harold loved the game of golf and also enjoyed watching the NASCAR races every weekend. He was famous for his barbecued steaks. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Boron. Harold is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alice Jo Beck, his son, Ricky Dean Beck of Boron, daughter, Kelly Jean Jones of Bakersfield, California. He has three sisters, Jeannie Hubbard, Ruth Lang and Linda Bumgardner and one brother Bill Beck. He has four wonderful grandchildren, Tyler, Cassie, Haylee and Dallas.
