Source Unknown; Date Unknown Services were held on July 9, 2002 at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home for Charles Lee Bell, Jr. of Kenefic, OK who passed away on July 6, 2002 at his place of residence. C.L. Bell was born on May 3, 1916 in Kenefic, OK to Charles and Ethel Bell. C.L. enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1943 and served until he was honorably discharged in December 1945. C.L. graduated from Southeastern State College in 1948 with a BA in education. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1953 and a Master's Degree of Teaching from Southeastern State College in 1957. In 1948 he married Stella Elizabeth Landers in Denison, TX. C.L. and his wife were both teachers in California until C.L. retired at the age of 62 in 1978. C.L. settled down into retirement in Kenefic, OK where he built a home and tended to cattle. C.L. spent more than 25 years in Bryan County at his home of residence in Kenefic. C.L. enjoyed spending time with his family, talking to people, and of course, money. He is remembered by all as a great conversationalist with many fun stories, a friend among everyone, and a conservative man who thought twice before spending a dime. C.L. is predeceased by his wife, Stella, sisters Lawrence White, Santha Bragg, Mary Mowdy, and Larue Bell, and brother Dee Bell. He is survived by his brother John Bell and wife Margo, San Diego, CA; sister Mazell Mullins, Durant, OK; sons, Charles R. Bell and wife Bobby of Boron, CA, James L. Bell, Boron, CA; daughters, Patricial Rief, Omaha, NE, Linda Ranson and husband John of Roswell, NM, Barbara Slavish and husband Mike of Roy, WA, Annette Bell of Kenefic, OK.; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family hour was held on July 8, 2002. Funeral services were held on July 9 with burial at Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK. Coffey-Murray Funeral Home handled arrangements. The family requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pancreas Cancer Research in memory of C.L.
