Source Unknown; Date Unknown April 14, 1919 – March 31, 2005 A funeral service will be held Monday, April 4 at the Wood Family Funeral Service chapel for Evelyn Ruth Bernardi, 85, who passed away on March 31 at Tehachapi Hospital. Evelyn was born April 14, 1919 in Lisbon, N.H. to Clarence and Ruth Young. She met Robert E. Bernardi in 1947 and after going together for three years, they were married on Aug. 4, 1950. Three years later, they headed west from New England. They eventually settled in the Antelope Valley, where Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother, raising three children. She loved being with the children and they all loved her in return, affectionately calling her Mrs. B. She also participated in Little League as a team mom and snack bar waiter. Her greatest joy in life was being a good mother and wonderful wife. Evelyn loved the coast and traveled there almost every year with her husband. They made their home in Tehachapi in 1993. Their life together was full of love and happiness. She went home to be with the Lord after a 15-year battle with alzheimer’s disease. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Bernardi of Tehachapi; sons, Robert Bernardi and wife Candace of El Dorado Hills and James Bernardi and wife Ecko of California City; daughter, Jean Marie Toepfer of Carpenteria; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell Young and Kenneth Young; sisters, Priscilla Dion and Pauline Antencio; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Dr. Marvin Slifer will officiate at the service. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
