Bishop, prominent businessman and community leader in Antelope Valley, was found dead Sunday morning, Sept. 18 at 7:30 a.m. in his car on a dirt road 17 miles west of Rosamond. Kern Co. Coroner Stan Newman listed the death as carbon 'monoxide poisoning. Report of the death was relayed to the sheriff's substation in Mojave by a trio of Los Angeles hunters, Bruce Taylor, Samuel Faber and Ronald Stewart. The body was brought to the O'Donnell Funeral Home originally but later removed to Mumaw Funeral Home in Lancaster. A leader in civic affairs, Mr. Bishop was one of Antelope Valley’s most active supporters of the Boy Scout movement. For several years he served as district commissioner of the Antelope Valley Council. He was also very active in other civic groups. Mr. Bishop was also connected with the Mojave Electric Co. as well as Bishop & Lusher in Lancaster, also an electrical contracting firm. He is survived by. his wife Florence, a daughter, Julie 14 and a so, Donald 19, all of Lancaster.
