He lived in Los Angeles with his mother and brother Carl. He attended Manual Arts High School where he was on the track team. He was most proud of being on the relay team when they won the world's record for four-man relay. He was known as "Shrimp" by his team mates as he had been double promoted and was not only small but several years their junior. He worked his way through high school and USC doing windows, and working on the linotype machine setting types for the paper. Boy, was he a proof-reader! His first teaching job was in Needles, California. There he met his future wife Inez. Paul eventually worked for the Board of Education of Long Beach, California as a Statistician. While there he traveled to Sacramento with various legislation. His most frequently spoken accomplishment while doing this was equalizing school funding and seeing that children with special needs were given education in their own schools. Paul spent his later years living in his beloved Blue Jay cabin and spending winters here in California City. He met and enjoyed many of the citizens here in the desert. He enjoyed going on the Senior Center trips. He is survived by his only daughter Carla Dixon, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial to Paul between Christmas and New Years at his cabin in Blue Jay. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of your choice in his name NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
