Source Unknown; 13 Feb 1941 Officer Scott Traps Suspect In Accident Due to some fine detective work on the part of Highway Patrolman C. A. Scott, James McBride, 17, CCC youth was committed to the county jail this week charged with negligent homicide following his arrest by the officer. He was alleged to have been the driver of a car which turned over and wrecked near Randsburg on New Year's Eve, causing the death of Robert Aiken Brady, 43 year-old Indian Wells service station operator. The youlth with a companion, Bernard H. Sells. 22, also of the lnyokern CCC camp claimed until Saturday that Brady was the driver of the car, but skillful questioning by Officer Scott brought the admission that McBride was driving when the accident occurred, it was stated. Testimony given during the coroner's investigation quoted the youths as saying Brady gave them a ride from Mojave and was driving when the car swerved from the road and overturned. They said they were knocked unconscious and when they regained consciousness it was dark so they left for aid, thinking Brady had left for aid too. The youths were given first aid treatment at Red Mountain New Year's Day and were hospitalized in the CCC Infirmary. Brady's body was not found until noon New Years Day
