All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Mojave Desert News; 21 Jun 1956 Alma Chambers, 55, passed away Tuesday evening at the White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. She was born August 29, 1901. Mrs. Chambers is survived by her husband, Cecil, a son, Harold J. Chambers, three brothers and a sister. Also, parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Scoggins of San Diego. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Chambers came to Mojave in 1947 when they bought Bandhauer’s Market on J Street, now known as Sierra Highway. Since then a new market was built at Panamint and K streets where Chamber’s Market now stands. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m. with the O’Donnell Funeral Home in charge. The store will be closed all day (Thursday) in memory of Mrs. Cecil Chambers. NOTE: Posted by East Kern Genealogical Society
