Collier were held on Thursday, November 12, 1998 at Prunedale First Baptist Church in Prunedale. Reverend Porter Wells conducted the services and a number of pastors from Rev. Collier's association participated. The California Baptist Singing Churchmen provided the music in addition to a solo performed by his son, Randy. Reverend Collier died Tuesday, November 10 of natural causes at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 61 years old. The Rev. Collier was born in Foster, Oklahoma and had lived in Soledad since March 1998. Prior to Soledad, he was a former pastor of 30 plus years, most recently pastor of Prunedale First Baptist Church. His latest endeavor was that of Director of Missions for Central Coast Southern Baptist Association. Ed served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of California Baptist College and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. He was a long standing member of the California Baptist Singing Churchmen and served in numerous capacities for the California Southern Baptist Convention. Rev. Collier is survived by his wife, Jean Ann (Sims) Collier of Soledad; daughters, Vonee McKee of San Diego, Ada Miles of Tehachapi and Patricia Collier of New Orleans; sons, Randy Collier of Soledad and Everett Branum of Tehachapi; sister, Lois Christopher of Tehachapi; brothers, Roy Collier of Tehachapi and Frank Collier of Panama City, Florida; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Vera Collier of Tehachapi, a brother, Bobby Collier of Tehachapi and a sister, Janie Collins of Bakersfield.
