Mojave Desert News; 14 Aug 1947 Santa Fe Freight Kills Section Hand Near Boron A section worker on the Santa Fe Railroad known to the people of Boron as Mr. L. Daniels, a colored man, was killed by a Santa Fe freight train near the Kern-San Bernardino county line three-fourths of a mile east of Boron, at 8:30 o'clock on Monday morning of this week. The news was reported by Mr. Cecil Salyer to The News, who stated the man was sitting on the track and apparently did not observe the approach of the train. The engineer said his train was moving too rapidly to stop in time and that the man did not heed the warning whistles. Deputy Glenn Roberts investigated the accident and while doing so received a new injury to his left leg which was almost well of a former injury. NOTE: CADI Leotis Daniels b. 26 Mar 1920, Okla.
