Davenport passed away in Lancaster, CA on January 18, 2002 after a lengthy battle with emphysema. He was born December 4, 1933 in Jordan, MT. John served 6 years in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Borax in 1996 after having worked there for 34 years. He was also a member of ILWU Local 30. He was predeceased by his wife Jessie in 1992 and a daughter, Carla in 1959. Surviving him are sons, Eugene D. Davenport of Boron, Scott L. Davenport and family of Rochester, MN, Michael Davenport of California City; daughter Crystal A. Davenport of Boron; brothers, Calvin Davenport, Everette Davenport, sister Cleo Elser and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on February 2, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the ILWU Local 30 Union Hall in Desert Lake, CA. Burial will take place at a later date at the Nordahl Family Cemetery in Mosby, MT.
