Source Unknown; Date Unknown Nov. 16, 1941 – Feb. 3, 2005 Memorial services will be held Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Wood Family Funeral Service with interment to be held in Fullerton for Susan A. Dieterle. She joined her Heavenly Father on Feb. 3 after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Susan was born in Minatare, Neb., and has been a resident of Tehachapi since 1969. Prior to coming to Tehachapi, Susan taught elementary school in Nebraska, Arizona, Iceland and Germany. After arriving in Tehachapi, she spent many years as the loving mother of Sally, Richard and Anne. After the kids left the nest, she enjoyed her employment at the California Correctional Institution. She was also a long-time member of the Community Congregational Church. Never a person to let a handicap stand in her way, she worked with the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, being one of the first recipients in the world to have a cochlear implant. Within a few years, she had different types of cochlear implants in each ear. She is survived by two daughters, Sally and Anne of Orange County; son-inlaw to be, Scott Barbour of Huntington Beach; daughter-in-law, Yannette of Fullerton; husband, Dick of Tehachapi; three brothers, David and Mabel Schoeneman of Fort Worth, Texas, Paul and Sue Schoeneman of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Doug Schoeneman, also of Scottsbluff, Neb.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Al and Mary Dieterle of Sterling, Ill., Ernie and Mary Dieterle of Glendora, John and Jeune Dieterle of San Antonio, Texas, Jim and Beryl Dieterle of Porterville and Tom and Kathy Dieterle of Granada Hills; plus numerous good friends and fellow workers from CCI. Susan was preceded in death by her son, Richard; parents, John and Emma Schoeneman; father- and mother-in-law Earnest and Helen Dieterle; nephew Warren, and numerous friends and relatives.
