Source Unknown; 16 Feb 1939 Two Men Are Killed In Yellow Aster Mine A verdict of Industrial Accident was returned at the inquest in the death of Carl Eklund, 50 and Don Morrison, 42, workmen at the Yellow Aster mine in the Rand District. The two men were working for the Macco Construction Company, drilling in the glory hole below a huge rock, preparing to set a charge to blast it, a small rock slipped from above, striking the larger one and dislodged it, causing it to fall on the men. Eklund was killed instantly and Morrison died at the Randsburg hospital shortly after. The accident happened February fifth. .
