All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Tehachapi News; 2 Sep 1998 Rose Anna Eloff was born February 14, 1920 to Charles and Anna F. Rice in Buffalo, New York. She had an older sister, Lillian, and a younger brother, Edward. She grew up, in Buffalo. During World War II she helped in the war effort in Chicago, Illinois. After the war, Rose moved to Los Angeles to work in a paper mill. There she met Andrew Eloff. They were married in Yuma, Arizona on June 4, 1949. In 1952 Andrew's job took them to El Paso, Texas. In 1957 they then moved to Lancaster, California. On December 22, 1958 Rose gave birth to her only child, Andrew Charles. She then assumed the role of homemaker and mother. On May 4, 1981 her husband of 32 years, Andrew, passed away. She stayed in Lancaster until 1995 when she moved to Tehachapi to be closer to her family. On August 21,1998 she succumbed to an infection she had been battling for five years. She is survived by her son, Andrew, her daughter-in-law, Diana, without whom she could not have survived this long; her grandson, Charles; her granddaughter, Charlene. A graveside service and interment took place at Lancaster Cemetery. Wood Family Funeral Services handled the arrangements
