Source Unknown; Date Unknown 1943 -1998 The Rosary was recited Tuesday evening, December 22, at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel and Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday morning, December 23, at St. Malachy Catholic Church for Edward Charles Hanks, 55, who passed away in Tehachapi on December 19. Ed was born to his parents Edward and Theodora Hanks in Globe, Arizona on July 21, 1943. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal-Poly, Pomona. He was a resident of Tehachapi since 1980. For a period of eight years he was an Animal Control Officer in Kern County. He was affili- ated with the Springer Spaniel Clubs on the West Coast and trained and participated in their field trials and clubs. Ed was also a member of the American Boarding Kennels Association. He was a member of the Tehachapi Sportsman Club and of the National Rifle Association. He was one of the founding members of the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. Ed is survived by his fiancee, Beth Guerrero, of Tehachapi; daughters, Carrie Raprager of Bakersfield and Kathy Hanks of San Jose; grandchildren, Kevin and Tenacee Raprager of Bakersfield; brother, Donald Hanks of Texas; stepmother, Eva Hanks of Bear Valley Springs; uncle, Donald and wife, Mary Hanks, of West Covina; and cousins, John Hanks, Mary Hanks, and Joe Hanks. Ed loved life and was a blessing to many family and friends. Ed's family has suggested that anyone desiring to make a contribution in his memory may donate to the American Heart Society, 1523 California Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93304. Monsignor Joseph Barnes officiated at the Rosary and Mass. Interment followed the Mass at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside.
