She was born on April 12, 1917 in Pueblo, CO and married her husband Herbert in 1935 in Claremore, OK. They were married 46 years until his death in 1981. Long-time residents of Mojave from 1945 to 1983, Juanita moved to Glendale, AZ to be near her daughter and son-in-law and their children after Herbert's death. Juanita was involved in many projects in Mojave. She worked for Pacific Bell, working many years both in the plant and traffic divisions where she retired in 1972. She was an active member of the Rebecca Lodge in Mojave for over 50 years, holding many offices in the Lodge. She worked with the Telephone Pioneers, ran Senior Citizen Meals-on-Wheels for a time, and-was an active member in the community of Mojave. Juanita and Herbert loved to fish, hunt, and golf and after she moved to Arizona, she took up bowling. She worked with her son-in-law Bill Delahunt in his insurance business in Arizona until her diminishing health forced her to retire. She left a great legacy, she had many friends and family members in Mojave, and had a hand in spoiling her nieces and nephews as they were growing up. Juanita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deloris and Bill Delahunt of Glendale, AZ. Four grandchildren, Mark, Kendall, Sheila and Jannel and their respective spouses; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving her are sisters, Pearl Hendrics, Loretta Owens, Rita Brazel and brother Loran Lafayette Owens. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 in Glendale, AZ, officiated by her nephew Reverend Grant H. Frye of Mojave, CA. She was laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery. Juanita will be greatly missed, but while she was with us she left us with many fond memories of her kindness and good-heartedness toward her family members and friends throughout her time on this earth.
