Source Unknown; 5 Oct 1944 MARINES DIE IN AIRPLANE CRASH Two Marine flyers, a pilot and an enlisted man, were killed in the crash of an advanced training plane near Rosamond late Sunday afternoon The plane, piloted by Second Lieutenant Clifford O. Wilson, was on a test hop and failed to come out of a dive. A board of inquiry has been appointed at the Marine Corps Air Station at Mojave to determine the cause Lieutenant Wilson's home was at 1455 Union Street, San Francisco, Calif., where his mother Mrs. Nelta V. Wilson, lives. The plane's other occupant was Corporal R. W. Hickman, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Hickman, 421 Sylvan Road, Lake Bluff, Ill. The corporal's wife, Mrs. Josephine Hickman, resides at 122 Elwood Ave, Evanston, Ill. His brother, Corporal Wesley W Hickman is a member of a fighter squadron at the Mojave Station.
