HOLDEN PASSES AWAY The many friends of James "Jim" Carter Holden who reside in the Mojave area for many years, and more recently at Cantil, will share in the bereavement of Lucille Holden in his passing, on October 31st. Jim was liked by all who had. the opportunity of knowing him., he worked last with the Departent of Water and Power, City of Los Angeles, as an aqueduct guard until he was confined to the Veterans' Hospital, at Sawtelle. Mr. Holden was buried at the National Cemetary at Sawtelle at 11 a. m., Nov. 4, 1946. Funeral services were held at the Kingsley-Gates Mortuary' in Santa Monica at 10:15 a. m. "Jim" Holden was a member of Golden Queen Post No. 358 American Legion, Mojave. Earl Blickenstaff, Frank Baughman, John H. Pepping, Phillip Clare and W. E. Wescott, Sr., represented the local Post at the ceremonies. Many beautiful floral pieces were sent to show their expression of sorrow to the bereaved family.
