Source Unknown; 17 Nov 1938 Robert Irvin, colored was reported to have been instantly killed when the Ford convertible coupe he was driving went out of control and turned over a number of times stopping on the shoulder of the cement dip on Red Rock canyon. The accident occurred after six o'clock Saturday evening and was reported by passing motorists to officer Scott at Mojave who investigated. Letters carried by Irvin served to identify him and the body was removed to Bakersfield after being pronounced dead at the local hospital, where he had been taken in the Mumaw ambulance.
