Source Unknown; 28 Aug 1952 Rosamond Man Dies in Car The discovery Sunday, August 17th of a stalled car on the hill, five miles west of Rosamond, revealed the badly decomposed body of Mr. Frank James Mason behind the steering wheel of the car. Mr. Mason, 75 was born October 12, 1876 in Kalamazoo, Mich., and had been employed at the Tropico Mine in Rosamond for the past 12 years, as a machinist. It was while the boys, Charles Johnson Jr., 14 and two of his brothers, Fred 12 and Robert 11 were on a hike that they noticed the stalled car having seen it the previous week, and so decided to investigate and made the gruesome discovery. Mason had been missing since August 11 and it is thought he went for a ride in his car and became the victim of a heart attack. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Gilinsky of Detroit, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Strickling of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The' body was removed to the O'Donnell Funeral Home where services were held Friday, August 22. Burial was in the Mojave Cemetery.
