"Jim" Matthew II, a longtime resident of California City, California, died May 17, 2003 near Julian, California. Jim was doing something he loved at the time of his death — riding his Harley Davidson. Jim was born January 31, 1959 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to James and Elaine Matthew. He was the husband and best friend of Sandra Matthew. The couple married in 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two had been together for more than 14 years. Jim served in the United States Air Force and worked as an instrumentation engineer at Edwards Air Force Base. He was a member of the San Bernardino chapter of the Harley Owners Group and was a student at Chapman University. He was taking a religion class among others. Camping with is family and four-wheeling at Dinky Creek near Shaver Lake were among Jim's past favorite activities. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. More recently his Harley was his passion. His step-daughter, Stacey Mills, recalls that her step-dad enjoyed "pushing peoples' buttons" and that he made everyone laugh. He was known for his helpful nature and he had a lot of friends. In addition to his wife Sandy, James is survived by his parents in Lebanon, Pennsylvania; one sister, Vicki Rooney of California City; son James L. Matthew III of California City; daughters Pennie Nott of Utah and Rachel Newton, of California City; step-daughters Stacey Mills of California City, Kristina McMullen of Irvine, California, and Denise Fyke of Santa Clarita, California; and his grandchildren Ashley, Bryce, Tyler, Jared, Russell, Daniel, Jordon, and Kylie. Thank you to Ron and Bev, Bill and Nancy, and Dale and Dawn for all your love and support. Services will be held on Friday May 30, 2003 at the Halley-Olsen Memorial Chapel in Lancaster at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Park Plaza in Lancaster immediately following the services. Jim, you will be forever in our hearts and we will never hear the roar of a Harley without thinking of you. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
