A memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church for Ruja Ann 
McDonell, 98, who passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on March 30.
Mrs. McDonell was born in Dallas, Texas on July 24, 1906. She met and married James B. McDonell. Upon 
his death in 1942, she continued to operate the family business, McDonell Motor Livery, for 20 years. Mrs. 
McDonell also worked as a realtor with her sister for the next 10 years. She moved to Tehachapi in 2000 
to be with her daughter.
Mrs. McDonell is survived by her daughter, Ann Dante and husband Lee of Bear Valley Springs; 
grandchildren, Leeanna Kirby and husband John of San Diego and Martin Dante and wife Lena of Lake 
Elsinore; and great-grandsons, Christopher Dante and Justin Dante.
Father Joel Davidilla will officiate at the service. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in 
Culver City. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
