Source Unknown; 20 Apr 1944 WELL KNOWN ODDFELLOW PASSES ON Another well known man of Mojave passed away at a Bakersfield hospital on Sunday when Charley Meers, well known carpenter of this place passed on. Born in Kentucky, he came to Mojave in 1931 and has resided here ever since. He was a charter member of Compton Lodge I. O. O. F., and a few years ago became an Associate Member of Mojave Lodge No. 457, 1. O. O. F. in which he has held every chair. 'He leaves a daughter, Miss Lucila Lapham of Los Angeles, a brother, Clarence of Bakersfield, a brother, Edward and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Thrasher and Mrs. Eunice Wilbank all of Seymore Tex. Funeral ceremonies will be handled by the O'Donnell. Funeral Parlor under the auspices of Mojave Lodge No. 457, I. O. 0 F. today at 2:30 p. m. Interrment will be in the Mojave cemetery
