Founding director of Rosamond council passes
ROSAMOND — Russell K. Melton, one of the founding directors of the Rosamond Town 
Council, passed away November 20, 2002 at the age of 81.
Melton and his wife helped out the Rosamond Senior Center by delivering meals to 
shut-ins in the community. He was known for his compassion towards others.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; five children; Russell Floyd, Sharon Lynn 
McDaniel, Gerald Allen, Fred Schindewolf and Sheryl Croft; 10 grandchildren; nine 
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Alford. 
Visitation was held November 23, 2002 at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel in 
Lancaster. A memorial service was held Sunday, November 24 at the Rosamond Moose 
Lodge.
