Newsom, 75, retired railroad section foreman of the Santa Fe railroad, died Christmas day in Whittier. Mr. Newsom was well known in Mojave having worked out of this community' for the past 32 years. Born in Mississippi in l865 he came to Mojave 42 years ago. However his stay was short as he left for Texas and did not return until 10 years later, but from that time on he was a well known figure in town. Mr. Newsom is survived by two sons, John T. Jr., of Bell, California and: Wesley T. Newsom of Los Angeles, two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Holmes of Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Mable Crane of Mojave, besides eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Following the funeral services, which were held in Whittier the body was taken to Long Beach for cremation.
