Oakes Passes At His Home in Mojave Mojave people who make, practice of going to the local post office for their mail early every morning will find one of the regulars missing from their ranks from now on for David F Oakes, a Mojave citizen for the past ten years, succumbed to a heart attack on Thursday evening last at his residence here. Born in Hugo, Okla., Mr. Oakes served as a deputy sheriff of that place for many years and as bailiff for the District Court anc came to Mojave in 1936 and has been a resident here ever since. Of a kindly disposition he made many friends who will miss his courteous manner each morning for it was his habit to make two trips a day from his home to the post office. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Elsie Oakes, three daughters. Mrs Virgil Lindsey, Mojave, Mrs. Burton Pruitt of Oildale, Calif. and Mrs. Nina Brown of Santa Ana; a son, Mr. Fred Oakes of Oildale, a sister, Mrs. Pearl Reeves of Mojave, 4 grandchildren and one great grand child. The body was taken to Bakersfield for burial by the O'Donnell Funeral Home who had charge of the funeral, when interment took place in Green lawn cemetery on Monday preceded by services which were held in the Assembly of God Church of Mojave.
