Last Rites Held For Richard Payne
Funeral services tor Richard Payne, 71 year-old pioneer resident of the Mojave 
and Tehachapi districts who passed away at the Kern General Hospital was held at 
the Community Congregational Church at 2 o'clock Sundav afternoon with the 
Rev. W. Judson Oldfield officiating. Mr. Payne received serious burns last January 
while cleaning the Mojave cemetery of which he was sexton for a number of years.
Burial followed in the family plot in the Tehachapi cemetery. Arrangements 
were in charge of the Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Funeral Home, Bakersfield.
