Source Unknown; Date Unknown March 8, 1921 – June 11, 2004 David Lease Perry passed away peacefully on June 11 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield. David was born with his twin sister Doris Kook on March 8, 1921 in Holt County, Mo. to Ethel Lease and Elmer Perry. He grew up in a small rural town. David was an active and mischievous youth. He left home to join the Navy where he served during World War II from 1941 to 1945. Handsome and fun loving, David dated several young ladies while he served. After the war, he followed his sister, Charlotte Bailey, to California where he began his career as a plumber and spent a few years dating until he fell in love with his favorite dance partner, Diane Patteson. He and Diane had four children, John Perry, Sharon Schmidt, Jan Jensen and Susan Hall. David was a devoted father who kept his family laughing. He shared and instilled his love of the outdoors with his children on their annual camping vacation. After retirement, he traveled by motorhome with his second wife, Allene. As a widower, after her death a few years ago, he began dating again. David was an avid bowler and dancer. He lived independently until falling ill the day before his 83rd birthday this year. During his illness, he was cared for by his first wife, and still good friend, Diane Elderson. His ready wit, laughing eyes and loving ways will be remembered by all who knew him. David is survived by his children, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sisters, and many loving friends. A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 19, at St. Jude's Espiscopal Church. Father Wesley Clare officiated at the service. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
