Source Unknown; Date Unknown Funeral services were held in the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel Thursday, August 27 for Axel Bernard Peterson, 85, who passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on August 23. Mr. Peterson was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on February 11. 1913. During WWII he served his country in the Army. His tour of duty took him to England for a period of 28 months. He operated diesel and gasoline powered cranes. He also drove six-ton trucks hauling heavy equipment in convoy. Mr. Peterson's employment career spanned a period of 32 years as a bakery driver for a teamsters local. He was married to Ina Rozelle Rogers in Buena Park on August 15, 1987. He enjoyed a variety of interests. He liked to travel and had visited Hawaii and Alaska in his travels. Also very high in his many interests were his family, lodges, gardening, horses, cigars and his dog, "Mokey." His lodges included Shriner - El Bekal Temple in Anaheim, Scottish Rite in Long Beach and Masonic Lodge #357 in Buena Park. Other affiliations were the American Legion, Post 221 in Tehachapi and the Community Services Club in BVS. Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Ina Peterson of Bear Valley Springs; stepdaughter, Opal Hagerty and husband, Don; grandchildren, Carol Elzenga and husband, Ron of BVS, Bruce and Belinda Hagerty of Diamond Bar, Dennis Hagerty of Anaheim; great grandchildren, Dawn Hagerty of Irvine, Brian and Michele Hagerty and Eric Hagerty all of Chino, Jeff Metz of Anaheim, Dan Hagerty of Los Angeles, Tracey Metz of Yorba Linda, Chris Hagerty of Anaheim; two nieces and a nephew. The Reverend Michael Boys of Bear Valley Springs Community Church officiated at the service. Brethren of Tehachapi Lodge No. 313 F. and A.M. also officiated. Interment took place at Riverside National Cemetery.
