Plymire, 92, of Bakersfield, passed away Sunday, May 23, at Parkview Julian Convalescent Hospital. Dwight served for many years as a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene in Ohio, Arizona and most recently in Apple Valley. He was a church builder and started a new congregation in Brawley, where he did much of the actual construction of the sanctuary. Prior to that he constructed a church basement under the church he pastored in Tipp City, Ohio duing World War II when there was a real shortage of construction workers. In his later years, he also served as a bus driver for Apple Valley High School and was loved by the students. Dwight is survived by a sister, Pauline Way of Delaware, Ohio; two daughters, Rachel Buckmaster of Yakima, Wash. and Ruth Watson of Locust Grove, Va.; son, Phillip Plymire of Tehachapi; sons-in-law, Roy Buckmaster and Emerson Watson; daughter-in-law, Judy Plymire; six grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karis Lucille Plymire and two brothers, Carl and Andrew Plymire. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, at Tehachapi Church of the Nazarene. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
