Mojave Desert News; 25 Sep 1947 ALVERUS POST IN SUICIDE JUMP Word was received here yesterday of the death of Alverus Post Jr., who committed suicide by leaping into a shaft at the Baker mine in Boron at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23. The shaft was 660 ft. deep and the act was witnessed by Leroy Bassler and Clarence Butt. Mr. Post was employed at the P.C.B. in Boron and he was Vice president of the Chemical Workers Union. It is thought he was despondent over the death of Jean Roberts. He is survived by his father, Alverus Post Sr., who resides in Richmond, Calif.. The body was removed to the 0' Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave where funeral arrangements are pending. An inquest will be held at the P.C.B. mine today (Thursday at 10:00 p. m.)
