Mrs. Rathers Passes Away
The mother of Mr. C. E. Lance passed away Sunday. February 27, 1955. She had 
been ill for some time. She was Mrs. Laura F. Rathers, born May 29. 1874 in Nest 
Plains, Mo. and leaves a daughter Mrs. Alice Failes of Los
Angeles; four sons, Mr. Henry Lance of Utah. Charlie Lance of Oklahoma, Clifford 
Lance of Bakersfield and C. E. Lance of Cantil.
There are 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 
March 2, 1955 in the Armstrong Flickenger Mortuary in Bakersfield. Rev. Selby Swift 
officiated with interment in the Union Cemetery. .
Friends from Cantil who were present at the services were Mr. Joseph Pine, Mrs. 
Haven Lemmon, Mrs. Chester Meredith and Mrs. Wm. Holderness.
