Funeral services were held for Rudene Reed, 94, 
on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Wood Family 
Funeral Service Chapel. She passed away on 
Feb. 15 in Loma Linda after a brief illness.
Rudene was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on 
Aug. 12, 1910 to Elmer and Nancy Gill. In 1929, 
she married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas 
J. Reed, in Cheyenne, Okla. That marriage lasted 
61 years until T.J. passed away in 1991.
The Reeds lived in Kern County since about 
1947, moving to Tehachapi in 1968. Rudene 
worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk for 
12 years.
She was a wonderful seamstress and especially 
enjoyed making children's clothing. 
Rudene was always very active in her church. 
While in Tehachapi, she attended the First 
Baptist Church.
After T.J. retired, they enjoyed travelling in their 
motor home where they would be in the great 
outdoors. 
While Rudene took great pride in her home, she 
loved her garden and the beautiful flowers she 
grew.
Rudene is survived be her son, William L. Reed 
and wife Joan of Tehachapi and very special 
friends LaNelle and Thurl Thompson.
Pastor Bud Bridger of the First Baptist Church 
officiated at the service. Interment took place at 
the Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside. 
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the 
arrangements.
