Source Unknown; Date Unknown May 20, 1923 – April 26, 2005 Donald Hubert Robey, 81, passed away on April 26 at his home in Tehachapi. Donald was born on May 20, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Marie Robey. He held a diploma in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and a B.S. in physics from Case Institute of Technology. Donald served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, installing and repairing ground-based communications and direction finding equipment for the U.S. Air Force. He then joined the U.S. Navy Electronics Laboratory in 1948 and worked for eight years in underwater sound and research and development. He joined General Dynamics in 1956 and worked 11 years, specializing in space flight problems. In January, 1967, Donald joined Autonetics as a senior project engineer and was in charge of the Multipurpose Information Transfer Satellite. He remained at Rockwell participating in many projects until his retirement. He moved to Tehachapi in 1990. Donald is survived by his wife, Maria Robey, of Tehachapi; 12 children; and many grandchildren. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
