Mojave Desert News; 6 Mar 1947 Apolinar Rodriguez, 31, of Calienta Calif. was instantly killed on March 4 while riding in a gondola of the Southern Pacific R. R. which was loaded with railroad rails. Sudden stopping of the train caused the rails in the gondola to shift, crushing Rodriguez to death. The body was removed by State Highway Patrolman Sanders and J. D. Jacoby and taken to O'Donnell Funeral Home where an inquest by the County Coroner is pending. Surviving are two brothers one of which is Espiririon Rodriguez of Carlsbad, N.M.
