Source Unknown; Date Unknown Claris Jean Roe, 69, passed away November 11, 2000 at Antelope Valley Hospital after a two and half year battle with lung cancer and pulmonary disease. She was born on April 8, 1931 in Noel, Missouri to Clarence and Juanita Benefiel. She and her late husband, Daniel Roe, were owners and operators of Dan's DX Gasoline Station in Wichita, KS, before relocating to the Antelope Valley. While in Mojave, in addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Roe was employed as a telephone operator by the local tele- phone company and also as a food server at White's, Reno's and French's restaurants. She was a resident of Mojave since 1970. Active in her community, she served in the Mojave Rebekah's Lodge, the Lancaster Auxiliary to Post 7283 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a strong supporter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 39. She also served as a board member to the East Kern Cemetery District (1993-1998) and Sunday School teacher for the Mojave's First Southern Baptist Church, where she was a member of thirty years. Mrs. Roe was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Lee (Steve) of Rosamond, CA and Melanie Berman (Brent) of La Quinta, CA, her three step-children, Bettina Roe of Encino, CA; Danette Roe Onofre (Ernesto) of Glendale, CA and Robert Roe (Jeannie) of Portage, MI; and six grandchildren, Tyler Daniel Roe, Cara Onofre, Olivia Roe, Kristina Roe, Brianna Michel and Dakota Michel; three brothers, Bob, Don and Bill Benefiel and Norma Faye Benefiel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church. Rt. 2, Noel, Missouri 64854. MOJAVE — Claris Jean Roe of Mojave passed away November 11. She was Born April 8, 1931, in Noel, Missouri. Mrs. Roe came to Mojave in 1970 with her late husband, Dan, and worked as a telephone operator and food server at Whites, Renos, and the French Cafe. She was a member of the Rebekahs, VFW Auxiliary, and the Disabled America Veterans, served on the board of the East Kern Cemetery District and as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Roe is survived by daughters Melinda Lee of Rosamond and Melanie Herman of La Quinta, step-children Bettina Roe of Encino, Danette Roe Onofre of Glendale, and Robert Roe of Portage, Michigan. She is also survived by brothers Bob, Dan, and Bill Benefiel and a sister, Norma Faye Benefiel and six grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Mojave. The family requests donations to the Mill Creek Baptist Church, Route 2, Noel, Missouri. Arrangements were handled by Stickel Mortuary of Mojave.
