Source Unknown; 18 Mar 2004 In loving memory of Lyman Paul Rooks, husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, great-great-grandfather and loyal friend passed away on March 14, 2004 in Lancaster, California. He enjoyed a wonderful fulfilling life with a loving family and many special friends. Lyman and his family are long-time residents of California City since 1962. Former owners of the California City Market, Lyman is remembered by many residents for slicing a perfect steak. Lyman was a past governor of the Moose Lodge, #1677; he also supported the American Legion and VFW. Lyman was born on May 10, 1932 in Irvine Ranch, California and married Audrey Jean Piddock in 1950. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Ring, Pattonville, Texas, Joanne Quirk, Yokosuka, Japan and one son, Michael P. Rooks, California City, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild, one sister Patricia Gorden of California City; two nieces and two nephews. Lyman was predeceased by his loving parents, Lyman Sr., and Bernice Rooks of Los Angeles, California. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 20, at the California City Moose Lodge.
