Source Unknown; Date Unknown July 4, 1947 May 21, 2004 A memorial service was held on Monday, May 24, at Cub Lake in Bear Valley Springs for Claus Jacob Rustman, 56, who passed away at home on May 21. Claus was born on July 4, 1947 in Chicago, Ill. to Claus E. and Theora Rustman. He spent much of his young life in Chicago before joining the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. He moved to Tehachapi in 1990. He was employed as a correctional officer at the California Correction Institution until his illness. He was married to his wife of nine years, Elizabeth J. Dalmont, on March 25, 1995 in Bear Valley Springs. While his health permitted, Claus enjoyed walking at Cub Lake with his beloved dog, Sunny. He was well known in the Bear Valley Springs Community, often helping open the local country store with his wife. He was always sharing his love for animals by handing out treats to all the dogs visiting the store with their owners. Claus is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth J. Rustman of Bear Valley Springs; son, Kevin Rustman and Brenda of Pontiac, Ill.; daughters, Jackie and Roberta Rustman, both of Pontiac, Ill.; grandchildren, Kyle Warwick, Kenna Rustman, Austin, Tyler and Kylie Norton; brothers, Tom and Jim Rustman; sisters, Sharon Maybach-Grandt and her husband Ken, and Raejean Baker and husband Larry; stepson, Robert Norton and wife Amber of Memphis, Tenn.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as many friends in the community.
