Source Unknown; 4 May 1944 Mrs. Fannie Jane Ryan, 86, born on the 22nd day of April, 1858, at Sagetown, III., died at the home of her son, John Ryan, near Muroc, on Tuesday, May 2, at 9 A. M. Her son, John, is her only survivor in these parts. The funeral will be held this (Thursday) morning from St. Mary's of the Desert Catholic Church, burial will be in the Mojave Cemetery. O'Donnell Funeral Parlors are in charge of the funeral arrangements. Source Unknown; 11 May 1944 MUROC LADY PASSES ON Fannie Jane Ryan, 86, died a the home of her son, John Ryan, near Muroc, Calif., at 9:00 A. M. Tuesday, May 2, 1944, after a long illness. She was born in Sagetown, Ill, April 22, 1858. The widow of the late Dennis Ryan, of the metropolitan police department of Omaha, Neb., her son, John, of the U. S. Engineers, building the Army Air Base at Muroc, was the only relative in California and a son William J. Ryan, general electrical foreman, Union Pacific Railroad at Omaha, who came to California for the funeral. During her illness the Reverand Father Shannon, Chaplain of the Army Air Base, Muroc, attended to her spiritual needs. She had many relatives in Iowa and Nebraska, among them a sister Mrs. John Heffron of Albie, Iowa Sister Cecelian, Sacred Heart Convent, Omaha, E. Kennelly and Mrs. Stella Long of Omaha Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Michael Mangan of St. Marys of the Desert Church and Rev. Father Shannon of the Army Air Base, Muroc at the church in Mojave on Saturday May 6.
