All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Mojave Desert News; 18 Jan 1940 Prominent Businessman Passes On Friends of M. B. Scribner, former business man of Mojave, were shocked to learn of his sudden death on Saturday morning at Seattle. Washington, where he had been taken home by his family recently. Mr. Scribner came to Mojave during the opening at the famous Golden Queen mine and worked for over a year for that company in capacity of watchman. Later he established and for the past four years has run a men's furnishing store here. Few people suspected that "Pop", as he was affectionately called, was in so serious a condition until recently when Mr. Marshall Wilhelm, his friend and business neighbor, notified his daughter Mrs. June Owens, of Seattle. Where he passed away on Saturday morning. Mr. Scribner leaves besides his wife, three sons. John, Theodore and Henry, two daughters, Mrs. June Owens and younger one all of Seattle and a daughter, Myra Scribner of Santa Monica. He was a member of Bakersfield Aerie No. 93, F.O.E., and a charter member of the Mojave Exchange Club and leaves a host of Mojave friends to mourn his passing. He was 60 years old.
